Yes, it is hardly a consultation if it only lays out one option.
And I thought it was just the Tory/LibDem coalition that brought out ill thought out ideas and rapidly backtracked on huge opposition.
Let's hope the SNP listen to the massive protest at these ideas.

The changes proposed by Professor Curtice would actually boost representation of the smaller parties, such as the Greens, and would be a move in the right direction.

It wouldn't be a problem if the "consultation" document had some positive options within it. But even the few mentions of boosting financial support or increasing services are brief and few and far between.

And how can the SNP deny it? Surely the ministers READ the document before they wrote a forward telling us how wonderful the proposals were?

[...] Set in Darkness discusses politics of a local sort, extolling the benefits of countryside wind farms to Scottish villages like Fintry: “Whilst some wind farms are cash cows for a single land owner, or the developers, not Fintry. The village of Fintry secured a wind turbine on the farm, and take a 15th share of the income. Using that money, they are investing in both their village and their future. The plans are for a carbon neutral village.” Inspiring stuff, I’m sure you’ll agree. [...]

Apologies for not approving your comments before now. I've not been checking the blog regularly, and for some reason have stopped getting email notifications of comments arriving.

The jobs comment is an important one. Trumps resort will never provide the jobs he claims it will. The manufacturer and maintenance of offshore turbines will provide jobs for certain.

Given Scotland's riches in offshore locations and the need for turbines, these locations must be used.

I attended the presentation in Ellon last week , and although the drive behind Mr Salmonds campaign appears inconclusive as to the overall benefit to the world fuel and eco crisis, I would rather have the wind turbines offshore as I do not like them in the hills as I feel they are ugly brutes . I spent a holiday a number of years ago down in Wales where there were a field of turbines offshore and were NOT as unsightly as the ones on land . I hope our spinless council can also see this and NOT let Trumpy bully them again .

It is great that the Scottish government is targeting 100% of Scotland’s electricity needs with renewable energy sources. The UK government recently released a roadmap with only 15% as the 2020 target. Hopefully, Scotland won't listen to Trump and do what is needed to drastically reduce their carbon footprint. Getting half of Scottland's energy needs from wind power is a good plan. It should also provide a lot of quality jobs, far more than the number a golf course could provide.
